Landscape Oil Painting
The guideline for this oil painting was a landscape obstructed by human creation. The moment captured shows to early transition from summer to fall. I chose to reference a photo I took from inside my friend’s living room. The lamp on the window ledge is a special piece of the house. I wanted to take the time and capture the detail of the stained glass in the lamp for the significance it holds. The lamp is from my friend’s grandfather who has now passed and is special to my friend’s family. When finding a subject matter to paint, I enjoy working with imagery that has a story to it. Additionally, I chose to work on the wood canvas horizontally. Given the negative space on either side of the composition, I chose two colors accented in the color palette to create balance and visual interest.
